"Call me a relic, call me what you
will Say I'm old-fashioned, say I'm over the hill Today's music ain't got
the same soul I like that old time rock n roll."
-Bob Seger; Old Time Rock
and Roll
In 1980, Mark ran into an old acquaintance, Pepper Ripp, "and the rest is history". Pepper invited Mark to sit in at a local bar gig with "The Pepper and Bill Band" (Pepper on guitar and vocals, Bill Zabit, vocals and bass, and Bix on drums). Mark soon joined the band.
In 1995, Pepper called up and said "Hey, let's get some guys together and jam in my basement - just for fun". The Relics were born. Bill Zabit had moved to California by then, but Bix was rarin' to go. They needed a bass player so Mark called up Jon Standridge, his old sand box guitar pal from 1959! Adding Bob Weynand on keyboard, it didn't take too long for the Relics to bust out of the basement.
